Fill in the form with the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3). Fields marked * are required. Notices are reviewed promptly. You may also email contact@birdsound.org.
Upon receiving a valid notice, we will promptly investigate and may remove or disable access to the material, and make a good-faith attempt to notify the affected contributor. This site primarily links to Creative Commons material (xeno-canto, Wikimedia Commons); where appropriate we may also refer the matter to the hosting platform.
If you believe material was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g). Include your signature, identification of the removed material and its former URL, a statement under penalty of perjury that removal was a mistake, and your name/address plus consent to relevant federal court jurisdiction. Use the form above and put “Counter-notice” at the start of the work/URL fields. Valid counter-notices may lead to restoration in roughly 10–14 business days unless a court action is filed.
We may remove content and block access for users who repeatedly infringe copyright.
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly materially misrepresents infringement or mistaken removal may be liable for damages, including costs and attorney fees. Please consider fair use and the applicable licence before filing.
Most recordings and images are used under Creative Commons licences with attribution shown on the page. If a work appears to be used contrary to its licence (for example, missing attribution), contacting us via the form often resolves it quickly — we will correct attribution or remove the work as appropriate.
