Ameline Swiftlet (Aerodramus amelis)

About the Ameline Swiftlet
The Ameline swiftlet (Aerodramus amelis), also known as the grey swiftlet, is a small bird in the swift family Apodidae. It is endemic to the Philippines. Its natural habitat is tropical moist lowland forests. It was formerly considered as a subspecies of the uniform swiftlet. Despite some fears around conservation, the species remains a Least-concern species. Two subspecies are recognised: A. a. amelis (Oberholser, 1906) – Philippines (except Palawan group) A. a. palawanensis (Stresemann, 1914) – Palawan group and Balambangan Island (north of northeast Borneo). It feeds small insects in flight. Forms groups of up to 40 individuals associating with other swiftlets.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 4 recordings for this species: 4 CC BY-NC-SA. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.
As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
