Cock-tailed Tyrant (Alectrurus tricolor)

About the Cock-tailed Tyrant
The cock-tailed tyrant (Alectrurus tricolor) is a Vulnerable species of bird in the family Tyrannidae, the tyrant flycatchers. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay. The cock-tailed tyrant was formally described in 1816 by Louis Pierre Vieillot as Gallita tricolor. Ironically, in the same publication he erected genus Alectrurus, to which the species was later moved. The cock-tailed tyrant is monotypic. It shares genus Alectrurus with the strange-tailed tyrant (A. risora).

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 10 recordings for this species: 4 CC BY-NC-SA. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.
As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
