Green Mango (Anthracothorax viridis)

About the Green Mango
The green mango (Anthracothorax viridis), most commonly known in Spanish as zumbador verde and colibrí verde, is a large species of hummingbird in the subfamily Polytminae, endemic to the main island of Puerto Rico. The green mango's relationship to the other species of genus Anthracothorax has not been settled. The species is monotypic. The green mango is 11 to 14 cm (4.3 to 5.5 in) long and weighs about 7 g (0.25 oz). The sexes are alike except that the female has a tiny white spot behind the eye. Adults' upperparts are emerald green, their underparts metallic blue-green, and their tail metallic blue-black with white tips to its feathers. Immatures have a brownish tinge to the head and back.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 1 recording for this species: 1 CC BY-NC-SA. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.
As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
