About the Pale Spiderhunter

The pale spiderhunter (Arachnothera dilutior) is a species of bird in the family Nectariniidae. It is endemic to the island of Palawan in the Philippines. Along with the orange-tufted spiderhunter, it was originally considered a subspecies of the little spiderhunter. It is predominantly grayish in color, with olive-green wings, a pale yellow belly and a bold yellow eyering. It was formerly considered conspecific with the little spiderhunter and orange-tufted spiderhunter, but the three were designated as distinct species in 2010. The pale spiderhunter differs from other two by its deeper and darker bill, longer tail, dark lores, and its striking eyering, gray breast and throat, and yellower wing edges. This species is monotypic and has no subspecies.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 12 recordings for this species: 12 CC BY-NC-SA. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.

As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
