About the Spot-throated Woodcreeper

The spot-throated woodcreeper (Certhiasomus stictolaemus) is a species of bird in subfamily Dendrocolaptinae of the ovenbird family Furnariidae. It is found in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Venezuela, and possibly Suriname. The spot-throated woodcreeper was formerly included in genus Deconychura together with the long-tailed woodcreeper (D. longicauda), but the two are not closely related. It is the only member of genus Certhiasomus and has these three subspecies: C. s. secundus (Zimmer, J.T., 1929) C. s. clarior (Hellmayr, 1904) C. s. stictolaemus (Pelzeln, 1868) Subspecies C. s. secundus has sometimes been treated as a separate species.
