About the Lovely Cotinga

The lovely cotinga (Cotinga amabilis) is a species of bird in the family Cotingidae. It is found in Mexico and every Central American country except El Salvador. The lovely cotinga is monotypic. It, the turquoise cotinga (C. ridgwayi), and the blue cotinga (C. nattererii) form a superspecies. The plum-throated (C. maynana), purple-breasted (C. cotinga), and banded (C. maculata) cotingas may also be part of that clade.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 3 recordings for this species: 3 CC BY-NC-SA. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.

As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.

Listed as recorded in Honduras in the xeno-canto catalogue.
