About the Red-capped Coua

The red-capped coua (Coua ruficeps) is a species of cuckoo in the family Cuculidae. It is endemic to northwest Madagascar. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forest and subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest. The olive-capped coua was formerly treated as a subspecies of the red-capped coua but has been elevated to species status based on the differences in plumage and vocalisation.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 43 recordings for this species: 26 CC BY-NC-SA · 17 CC BY-NC-ND. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.

As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
