Slaty Tanager (Creurgops dentatus)

About the Slaty Tanager
The slaty tanager (Creurgops dentatus) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae, the tanagers and allies. It is found in Bolivia and Peru. The slaty tanager was formally described by Philip Sclater and Osbert Salvin in 1876 with the binomial Malacothraupis dentata; they erected the genus Malacothraupis for the species. The slaty tanager now shares the genus Creurgops with the rufous-crested tanager (C. verticalis) and they form a superspecies. It is monotypic.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 5 recordings for this species: 5 CC BY-NC-ND. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.
As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
