About the Madagascar Yellowbrow

The Madagascan yellowbrow (Crossleyia xanthophrys), also known as the yellow-browed oxylabes, is a species of Malagasy warbler, formerly placed in the family Sylviidae. Found only in Madagascar, it was previously the sole member of the genus Crossleyia until the rare and endangered dusky tetraka (formerly in the genus Xanthomixis) was moved to Crossleyia based on a molecular genetic study published online in 2019. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. It is threatened by habitat loss.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 26 recordings for this species: 14 CC BY-NC-SA · 12 CC BY-NC-ND. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.

As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
