About the Scaled Antbird

The scaled antbird (Drymophila squamata) is a species of bird in subfamily Thamnophilinae of family Thamnophilidae, the "typical antbirds". It is endemic to Brazil. The scaled antbird has two subspecies, the nominate D. s. squamata (Lichtenstein, MHC, 1823) and D. s. stictocorypha (Boucard & Berlepsch, 1892). Results of genetic testing hint that D. s. stictocorypha may be a separate species but data about possible differences in the vocalizations and ecology of the two taxa are scarce.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 207 recordings for this species: 162 CC BY-NC-SA · 45 CC BY-NC-ND. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.

As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
