About the North Moluccan Pitta

The North Moluccan pitta (Erythropitta rufiventris) is a species of pitta. It was long considered a subspecies of the red-bellied pitta, but was split on the basis of genetic and morphological studies. It is endemic to Indonesia where it occurs on the northern Moluccas. Its natural habitat is tropical moist lowland forests. While it has suffered some habitat loss, it is not considered threatened with extinction.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 23 recordings for this species: 12 CC BY-NC-ND · 11 CC BY-NC-SA. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.

As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
