Black-winged Parrot (Hapalopsittaca melanotis)

About the Black-winged Parrot
The black-winged parrot (Hapalopsittaca melanotis), also known as the black-eared parrot, is a species of bird in subfamily Arinae of the family Psittacidae, the African and New World parrots. It is found in Bolivia and Peru. Early in the 20th century the black-winged parrot shared genus Pionopsitta with the pileated parrot (P. pileata). It has two subspecies, the nominate H. m. melanotis (Lafresnaye, 1847) and H. m. peruviana (Carriker, 1932). There have been suggestions that peruviana deserves to be treated as a full species.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 13 recordings for this species: 10 CC BY-NC-SA. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.
As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
