About the White-speckled Laughingthrush

The white-speckled laughingthrush (Ianthocincla bieti), also known as Biet's Laughingthrush, is a species of passerine bird in the family Leiothrichidae. It is endemic to China. Its natural habitat is temperate forests. It is threatened by habitat loss. The white-speckled laughingthrush was at one time placed in the genus Garrulax but following the publication of a comprehensive molecular phylogenetic study in 2018, it was moved to the resurrected genus Ianthocincla. The specific name commemorates the French missionary to China Félix Biet.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 5 recordings for this species: 3 CC BY-NC-SA · 2 CC BY-NC-ND. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.

As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
