About the Okinawa Robin

The Okinawa robin (Larvivora namiyei) is a passerine bird endemic to Okinawa of Japan. It previously was considered a subspecies of the Ryukyu robin (Larvivora komadori). Sometimes forages for food near the ground. Predation by invasive species such as the small Indian mongoose negatively impacts the Okinawa Robin.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 34 recordings for this species: 18 CC BY-NC-ND · 16 CC BY-NC-SA. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.

As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.

Listed as recorded in Japan in the xeno-canto catalogue.
