White-collared Kite (Leptodon forbesi)

About the White-collared Kite
The white-collared kite (Leptodon forbesi) is an endangered species of bird in the subfamily Perninae of the family Accipitridae, the diurnal raptors. It is endemic to northeastern Brazil. Until the early 2000s the white-collared kite was considered an aberrant plumage of the grey-headed kite (L. cayanensis) but morphological and other evidence strongly support its treatment as a full species. It is monotypic. The species' specific epithet commemorates the British zoologist William Alexander Forbes.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 20 recordings for this species: 11 CC BY-NC-SA · 9 CC BY-NC-ND. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.
As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
