About the Crestless Fireback

The Malayan crestless fireback or Malay crestless fireback (Lophura erythrophthalma) is a member of the family Phasianidae. It was previously known as the crestless fireback when it was lumped together with the Bornean crestless fireback. The two species were separated into two monotypic species based on obvious plumage differences, most notably the virtually unmarked dark plumage of the male. The Malayan crestless fireback is found in the Malay Peninsula and Sumatra.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 3 recordings for this species: 1 CC BY-NC-ND. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.

As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
