About the Colombian Mountain Grackle

The Colombian mountain grackle or mountain grackle (Macroagelaius subalaris) is an Endangered species of bird in the family Icteridae, the oropendolas, New World orioles, and New World blackbirds. It is endemic to Colombia. The Colombian mountain grackle was formally described in 1840 with the binomial Quiscalus sub-alaris. Some early twentieth century authors treated it and what is now the golden-tufted mountain grackle (M. imthumi) as conspecific. They are now the only members of genus Macroagelaius and form a superspecies. The Colombian mountain grackle is monotypic.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 88 recordings for this species: 53 CC BY-NC-ND · 35 CC BY-NC-SA. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.

As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
