About the Bare-faced Ground Dove

The bare-faced ground dove (Metriopelia ceciliae) is a species of bird in the family Columbidae. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, and Peru. The bare-faced ground dove and its sister species Moreno's ground dove (Metriopelia morenoi) were previously placed in genus Gymnopelia. Three subspecies are recognized, the nominate Metropelia ceciliae ceciliae, M. c. obsoleta, and M. c. zimmeri. However, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's Birds of the World considers M. c. obsoleta to be "doubtfully valid".

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 6 recordings for this species: 5 CC BY-NC-ND · 1 CC BY-NC-SA. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.

As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
