About the Ash-breasted Antbird
The ash-breasted antbird (Myrmoborus lugubris) is an insectivorous bird in subfamily Thamnophilinae of family Thamnophilidae, the "typical antbirds". It is found in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. The ash-breasted antbird was described by the German ornithologist Jean Cabanis in 1847 and given the binomial name Myrmonax lugubris. Its current genus Myrmoborus was introduced in 1860. The ash-breasted antbird has these four subspecies: M. l. berlepschi (Hellmayr, 1910) M. l. stictopterus Todd, 1927 M. l. femininus (Hellmayr, 1910) M. l. lugubris (Cabanis, 1847).
