Scalloped Antbird (Myrmoderus ruficauda)

About the Scalloped Antbird
The scalloped antbird (Myrmoderus ruficauda) is an Endangered species of passerine bird in subfamily Thamnophilinae of family Thamnophilidae, the "typical antbirds". It is endemic to Brazil. The scalloped antbird was formerly included in the genus Myrmeciza. A molecular phylogenetic study published in 2013 found that Myrmeciza, as then defined, was polyphyletic. In the resulting rearrangement to create monotypic genera, four species including the scalloped antbird were moved to the resurrected genus Myrmoderus. The scalloped antbird has two subspecies, the nominate M. r. ruficauda (Wied-Neuwied, 1831) and M. r. soror (Pinto, 1940).

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 75 recordings for this species: 62 CC BY-NC-SA · 13 CC BY-NC-ND. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.
As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
