About the Alor Myzomela

The Alor myzomela (Myzomela prawiradilagae) is a species of bird in the family Meliphagidae, the honeyeaters. It is endemic to the Indonesian island of Alor, where it is the island's only representative member of the genus Myzomela. It is named after Dewi Malia Prawiradilaga, an ornithologist at the Indonesian Institute of Science and one of the first leading female Indonesian ornithologists. It closely resembles and is most closely related to the Wetar myzomela (M. kuehni) of the adjacent island of Wetar. However, it noticeably differs in its calls and morphology.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 5 recordings for this species: 5 CC BY-NC-SA. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.

As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.

Listed as recorded in Indonesia in the xeno-canto catalogue.
