About the Fire-tailed Myzornis

The fire-tailed myzornis (Myzornis pyrrhoura) is a species of bird. Its genus Myzornis is monotypic, and has recently been transferred to the family Paradoxornithidae, having formerly been treated in the family Timaliidae. The monotypic genus name, Myzornis, which is also the bird's common name, is derived from the Greek μῠζᾰ́ω (mŭzắō), meaning "to suck", and ὄρνῑς (órnīs), meaning "bird", in reference to its nectar-eating habits; the species epithet is derived from the Greek πῠρρός (pŭrrhós), meaning "flame-coloured", and -οὐρά (-ourá), meaning "tail".

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 18 recordings for this species: 7 CC BY-NC-SA · 1 CC BY-NC-ND. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.

As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
