About the Swallow-tailed Cotinga

The swallow-tailed cotinga (Phibalura flavirostris) is a species of passerine bird in the family Cotingidae. It is found in Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay. The swallow-tailed cotinga was long considered to be a member of family Cotingidae. However, for a time some taxonomic systems were unsure and separated it as incertae sedis. A study published in 2014 firmly placed it in Cotingidae.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 4 recordings for this species: 4 CC BY-NC-SA. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.

As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.

Listed as recorded in Brazil in the xeno-canto catalogue.
