About the Santa Marta Tapaculo
The Santa Marta tapaculo (Scytalopus sanctaemartae) is a species of bird in the family Rhinocryptidae. It is endemic to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta of Colombia. The Santa Marta tapaculo was previously considered to be a subspecies of the rufous-vented tapaculo (Scytalopus femoralis). It was raised to species status primarily because of differences in their vocalizations.
