About the Golden-collared Toucanet

The golden-collared toucanet (Selenidera reinwardtii) is a near-passerine bird in the toucan family Ramphastidae. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. The golden-collared toucanet was originally described in the genus Pteroglossus. The South American Classification Committee of the American Ornithological Society, the International Ornithological Committee (IOC), and the Clements taxonomy recognize two subspecies, the nominate S. r. reinwardtii (Wagler, 1827) and S. r. langsdorffii (Wagler, 1827). Both subspecies have at times been treated as separate species, and BirdLife International's Handbook of the Birds of the World (HBW) continues to do so. It calls them the "red-billed" and "green-billed" toucanets respectively. The two interbreed where their ranges overlap in Peru.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 75 recordings for this species: 3 CC BY-NC-SA · 2 CC BY-NC-ND. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.

As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
