About the Spectacled Prickletail

The spectacled prickletail (Siptornis striaticollis) is a species of bird in the Furnariinae subfamily of the ovenbird family Furnariidae. It is found in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. The spectacled prickletail's taxonomy is unsettled. It has traditionally been thought most closely related to the greytails of genus Xenerpestes but there is some evidence that its closest relatives are genera Roraimia, Cranioleuca, and Thripophaga.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 3 recordings for this species: 3 CC BY-NC-ND. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.

As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.

Listed as recorded in Ecuador in the xeno-canto catalogue.
