Maracaibo Tody-Flycatcher (Todirostrum viridanum)

About the Maracaibo Tody-Flycatcher
The Maracaibo tody-flycatcher (Todirostrum viridanum), also known as the short-tailed tody-flycatcher, is a species of bird in the family Tyrannidae, the tyrant flycatchers. It is endemic to Venezuela. The Maracaibo tody-flycatcher was formally described in 1927 as a full species with its current English name and binomial Todirostrum viridanum. For a time in the mid-twentieth century some authors treated it as a subspecies of the common tody-flycatcher (T. cinereum) but that placement did not receive widespread acceptance. The Maracaibo tody-flycatcher is monotypic.
