About the Belted Flycatcher

The belted flycatcher (Xenotriccus callizonus) is a species of bird in the family Tyrannidae, the tyrant flycatchers. It is known in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Mexico and possibly occurs in Honduras. The belted flycatcher was originally described and its genus Xenotriccus erected for it in 1927. It and the pileated flycatcher (X. mexicanus) are the only members of the genus. The belted flycatcher is monotypic.

We only publish recordings we may use commercially, because this site is supported by ads. xeno-canto lists 26 recordings for this species: 5 CC BY-NC-SA. None of them permits commercial use, so there is no player here — the page is kept as a profile so the bird is not missing from the guide.

As soon as someone uploads a freely licensed recording, we mirror it and the player appears here.
