Yellow-tufted Dacnis (Dacnis egregia)

About the Yellow-tufted Dacnis
The yellow-tufted dacnis (Dacnis egregia) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae, the tanagers and allies. It is found in Colombia and Ecuador. The yellow-tufted dacnis was formally described in 1855 with its current binomial Dacnis egregia. The species' further taxonomy is unsettled. The South American Classification Committee (SACC), the IOC, the Clements taxonomy, and BirdLife International's Handbook of the Birds of the World (HBW) treat the yellow-tufted dacnis as a full species. They had previously treated its two subspecies as belonging to the black-faced dacnis (D. lineata).
